The Gear Jam Vintage Drags, Car Show and Swap Meet is this Friday and Saturday, April 24-25 at the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA.
Weather for the weekend
Weather reports as of midnight, Tuesday night, April 21 showed perfect weather for Friday, and sketchy weather for Saturday.
At that time, the weather report for Saturday had been changing every 6-12 hours for a couple days. As of this minute, they’re calling for rain in the afternoon, and evening.
IF Saturday rains out, we will run the 2nd day of the event’s activities on Sunday; this covers all the activities—car show and awards, swap meet, and of course the race Eliminations.
Because the weather forecast is changing so frequently, we will make the determination on what day we are running on Friday night, after the Commerce Cruise. If it looks like the weather is going to hold off until late in the afternoon or evening, we’ll run the event on Saturday.
We will send out an email, and we will post it on our website, at www.gearjamdrags.com.
Renegade Race Fuel has just come onboard as the Official Fuel of The Gear Jam Vintage Drags!
For information on Renegade Race Fuels, their products and availability, check out their website at www.renegaderacefuel.com
Race Fuel will be available Friday and Saturday at the tech shack. (or Sunday if we postpone it due to weather)
Those wanting to rough it at The Gear Jam are more than welcome. Camping for the weekend is $15 per car for spectators or car show participants. Camping for swap meet vendors and racers is included in your entry cost.
Camp fires are allowed. If camping in the race pits or swap meet area, please use a portable campfire “pit.”
No bonfires, no magnesium Volkswagen trans cases.
Brad’s Email kaput
Since Saturday, April 18, Windstream’s servers have been messed up. This is a widespread problem for a sizeable number of their customers. I can send email, but I cannot receive emails. If you have sent me an email in the last few days, I have not received it.
If you need any information about the Gear Jam, please call my cell phone at (706) 424-5035, and I’ll get you squared away.
8-second Lamar Walden Automotive Chevy vs. Keith Fulp Motorsports Ford Shootout
Unfortunately, the Lamar Walden-prepped 409 car is snow-bound in Colorado after three feed of white was dumped on the state, and will not be able to make the event this weekend (“global warming” my…) So unfortunately the Chevy vs Ford match race has been canceled.
You’ll still be able to see Fulp’s ’58 Ford haulin’ the goods, as he’s registered for the race.
