When it comes to Rockabilly in the Atlanta scene the very first band anyone thinks of is Hot Rod Walt and the Psycho DeVilles. This past Saturday, May 21st, the newest release, Motor Honey, was introduced to a sold out show at the Dixie Tavern. Motor Honey marks the 11th album of virtually all original music by Hot Rod Walt. The new album has a great new twist adding slide guitar by Steve Stone and even horns added by Garage71’s own Rev. Andy Hawley and other members of Southern Ska Syndicate.
During the show, the Psycho DeVilles started the show with their normal routine and pumping up the crowds. It is a natural state here at the Dixie Tavern with the Psycho DeVilles. About half way, Hot Rod Walt took a break to introduce the new album to the crowd. At that moment, President of Hot Pan Productions, Inc.’s Brian L. Whitcomb, creator of Grease Inc. magazine and Garage71 Radio and Promotions with Rev. Andy of Garage71’s Psychobilly Freakout and Duncan Flemming of the Miller Coors Company presented Hot Rod Walt and the Psycho DeVilles with a custom built upright bass only fit for the DeVilles and the Rockabilly scene…
“Hot Rod Walt is Rockabilly to Atlanta” says Brian L Whitcomb during the show. Miller High Life has joined the team of Grease Inc. and Garage71 at the end of 2015 with partnering up at Hell on Wheels. Since then, the pair have collaborated to share the true meaning of a created slogan internally at the brewery, I am Rich. The meaning translates to being rich in life. It’s capturing moments with friends enjoying life to the fullest. Whether through music, arts, friendships and the pursuit of happiness, I am Rich is found at every Psycho DeVilles show!
The bass will be played by Psycho DeVilles, Buford T Ogletree for one year. After a year of creating new memories coast to coast, the bass will be given away for charity to one lucky individual. All the members of the band will sign the bass and present it to the winner when announced!
